How many wigs are enough?
You can never have too many wigs and wig addiction is real! However this is going to come down to a personal budget. That being said, it is a good idea to have at least two wigs on rotation. This enables you to rotate your wigs out during washing and maintenance sessions and prolong the lifespan of your wigs.
Most people begin with two similar wigs and gradually get more adventurous about colours and styles.
Can my wig be coloured?
Yes and no.
Synthetic hair is a hard no so please choose your colour wisely and we are here to help so just send us an email at info@thewigandi.com.au
Human hair is a yes! However you can only darken the colour of your wig and not lighten so please consider this when choosing the colour of your human hair wig.
To ensure the longevity of your wig, please consult with a professional wig colourist.
Please be aware that we take no responsibility with how your hair turns out if you get it coloured or colour it yourself so we really recommend going to a professional wig hairdresser and wig colourist.
Can I shower and swim in my wig?
Technically yes you can - it's your wig and you can do whatever you want with it but we strongly advise against it. Your wig can be damaged from tangling and matting while swimming and showering which can greatly damage your wig. Chemicals in swimming pools can also break-down wig fibres. These things will lessen the lifespan of your wig. Instead you can pour clean water over your wig to cool yourself down on a hot day and please wash your wig as advised here... If you do choose to swim in your wig we recommend a shower cap or swimming cap to protect your hair or to use an older / cheaper wig (if you have one) and not your new cherished wig.
Can I sleep in my wig?
This is a personal choice, we don’t recommend sleeping in your wig as it causes friction on the fibres and will lessen the lifespan of your wig. Your wig can be damaged from tangling and matting, which can break-down wig fibres. But we do understand some people want to sleep in their wigs so as long as you know the risks associated and that the lifespan will be shortened you can do as you please. If you can, we recommend using a soft cap for sleeping in our Accessories product range. softies

Can i go to the gym & work out in my wig?
YES! There are many wig wearers that wear their hair to the gym, cross-fit, netball and various other highly active scenarios. It's important to know that it is like exercising with a hat on - you will sweat underneath the cap so it can be a lot warmer than exercising without a wig. Please keep in mind that the hair might tangle or require some hydration after these activities so please ensure you give it a gentle wash after activities & follow the care instructions. Human hair vs synthetic?
Human hair wigs are more expensive than synthetics and also require more styling and maintenance than synthetics.
If you are still unsure check out All about Wigs & Toppers for instructions, or organise an obligation-free consultation.
How do i know what wig is right for me?
This will depend mainly on your budget and what style of hair piece you would like. Please contact us or book a consultation and we will happily guide you through your options, based specifically on your personal needs.
Can I use regular hair care products on my wig?
No. It is vital to use the correct shampoo and treatments for your wigs; otherwise irreparable damage can be caused.
Protein must never be used on wigs as it will cause immediate damage. Keratin or protein is designed to open the hair shaft, great for adding body and fullness to your hair. Your scalp hair is able to re-close the shaft, cut hair has no live source, therefore the shaft will remain open looking frizzy and unmanageable.

I only have partial hair-loss or thinning, do I need a wig?
Hair toppers are a great option to help conceal thinning or hair-loss. Toppers are a more convenient option and can be blended seamlessly with your own hair.
We offer a range of toppers, ponytails, and other hair pieces to suit your needs. To select the best topper for your needs book a free in-store or online consultation and we will help find you the best topper for your needs.
